What's Really In Chicken McNuggets? (Scary)

by Mike Adams, NaturalNews.Com

Ever wonder what's really found in Chicken McNuggets? Some of the ingredients, it turns out, seem to belong more to an industrial factory of some kind, not a food retailer. According to the McDonald's Corporation, its famous Chicken McNuggets are made with ingredients including:
  • Autolyzed yeast extract (which contain free glutamate, similar to MSG),
  • Sodium phosphates and
  • Sodium aluminum phosphate.
But that's not the freaky part. According to McDonald's own website, Chicken McNuggets are also made with:
  • "hydrogenated soybean oil with TBHQ and
  • citric acid added to preserve freshness" and
  • "Dimethylpolysiloxane added as an antifoaming agent."

At least two of these ingredients are artificially synthesized industrial chemicals. TBHQ, a petroleum derivative, is used as a stabilizer in perfumes, resins, varnishes and oil field chemicals. Laboratory studies have linked it to stomach tumors. "At higher doses, it has negative health effects on lab animals, such as producing precursors to stomach tumors and damage to DNA. A number of studies have shown that prolonged exposure to high doses of TBHQ may be carcinogenic, especially for stomach tumors." (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TBHQ)

Dimethylpolysiloxane, a type of silicone, is used in caulks and sealants, as a filler for breast implants, and as key ingredient in Silly Putty. Says Wikipedia:

"PDMS is also used as a component in silicone grease and other silicone based lubricants, as well as in defoaming agents, mold release agents, damping fluids, heat transfer fluids, polishes, cosmetics, hair conditioners and other applications. PDMS has also been used as a filler fluid in breast implants, although this practice has decreased somewhat, due to safety concerns. PDMS is used variously in the cosmetic and consumer product industry as well. For example, PDMS can be used in the treatment of head lice..."

Not that the other ingredients are any better. Because cotton is not regulated as a food crop, cottonseed oil may contain chemical pesticides that are banned in food production. It is also almost always genetically modified. Hydrogenated oils, of course, typically contain trans fats, the artificially produced fats that are unusable by the body and that studies have linked to a number of detrimental health problems. And autolyzed yeast extract is a chemical taste-enhancing ingredient containing free glutamate that manufacturers use as a friendlier-looking replacement for MSG.

And what about the chicken in Chicken McNuggets? It's factory-farmed chicken, not free-range chicken. So it's the kind of chicken that's typically treated with vaccines and hormones while being fed conventional feed products that are medicated with pharmaceuticals and grown with pesticides.

Yum!! Don't forget to ask for extra dipping sauce. We haven't even talked about what you'll find in there...

Chicken Nuggets.. ate them twice, no wonder they taste like plastic.

So you think these ingredients are toxic or something? You don't have much science education.

McDonald's sells marketing, not nutrition. It's fast, it's cheap and you get what you pay for. They only stay in business because people buy it. If people stopped buying the chemicals they pass off as "food", then they wouldn't be in business. It's simple
supply and demand. As I used to tell my son - why do you think they give you toys? Because they don't sell real food, so they have to get you in there somehow.

Absolute poison. I just read this to my son and husband. Thank-you for the information.

Considering Mrs. Obama's deep concern regarding what children eat, WHY DOESN'T SHE make a national statement regarding the UNHEALTHY NON-FOOD additives in McDonalds Food, that millions of children are eating....AND CHALLENGE McDonalds TO REALLY CLEAN UP
THEIR ACT/FOOD!!!!

I can't believe the FDA , and our government not being more responsible for the care and correct information of good nutrition. Yes it is our choice, however when you give a small child the choice between healthy food or Mc nuggets ( And yes parents we
are responsible ) but common there are ways to serve healthy fast foods.

Well, what better to feed our children to prepare for a future where one must adapt to a toxic environment in order to survive? Perhaps if we poison them young enough and often enough they will develop some capacity to digest petroleum products and transform
man-made chemicals into valuable nutrients.

No, it has to be real chicken. They have been sued because someone found a beak in their meal lol. Besides, why would McDonalds ever lie to us? They really care about us and our health *rolls eyes*
Karen Robert commented on 06-Aug-2011 02:19 PM5 out of 5 stars
I knew they were not real chicken and often guilty of feeding them to my kids as a treat in the past and saying to them wonder what is really in those nuggets boys? I feel so stupid that I used this crap as a treat, here you go good boy have some poison

Wow - scientists have really perfected the McNugget, to the point where it is not made from food, nor does it represent food of any kind.
Sarah commented on 06-Aug-2011 11:08 PM5 out of 5 stars
So sad that those who "create" these foods do so knowing they are poisoning our children!!

How could you put that in your food! Shame on you McDonalds! That's disgusting! I'm sure you could find a better recipe that doesn't involve chemicals!

Too bad that most of us seeing this are already eating healthier. We need larger campaigns to reach the masses....And another problem is many are so poor that this is the only "food" they can afford, and the only thing that is available in their neighborhoods.
There are many issues that need addressing.

I haven't darkened the doors of MacDonald's for over five years, and never will again. I also help as many others, as I can, understand WHY I don't!
Tina commented on 07-Aug-2011 08:10 AM5 out of 5 stars
McDonald's is forbidden in my house hold! I looked into this and it disgust me to know that its ok to use these products! We also have done our own study and a McDonald's cheeseburg happy meal was bought thrown in the garage (in Florida ..major heat)..it
was a year June 5th and the meal looks the same. Alittle shrunken and the bun is hard but NO mold! And nothing tried to eat it....yukkkk
Cathy commented on 07-Aug-2011 08:19 AM5 out of 5 stars
You have to watch "The Immortal Burger" on Youtube. Apparently there are enough chemicals in McDonald's burgers to make them last years and years without changing. You must also check out the ingredients list in Burger King's Strawberry milkshakes. NO
STRAWBERRIES.

How can we get the FDA to enforce safe ingredients in food products to protect human health?
Jim Hirt commented on 08-Aug-2011 04:08 AM5 out of 5 stars
Like the great Jack Lalanne said, "If man made it, don't eat it".
Chris commented on 08-Aug-2011 08:53 AM5 out of 5 stars
I am horrified and sad that I have let my children eat this for years. They are teenagers now and we have not had McDonalds for over a year now because we bought a cheesebuger and decided to see what would happen to it if we left it on the kitchen bench
(unrefridgerated) for a month. We had heard someone else had done this but we thought it was an urban myth. The terrible result was that the burger looked as good as it did on the day we bought it and it smelled the same. If it were normal food it should have
changed in appearance and meat should have a rotting stench. We continued for six months and still the burger looked and smelled the same as the day we bought it. The only change was that the bun was hard. What is McDonalds putting in their meat? How can they
say that it is 100 per cent beef when obviously it can't be as it doesn't rot?

the biggest problem is the average person wont pay the money for a "junk free" product and that is why macdonalds and the other foodcompanies will continue to prosper.
Jason commented on 08-Aug-2011 10:52 PM5 out of 5 stars
Just say no to McDonalds, BK, Taco Bell, etc. It's all of us who have done this, now it's going to take all of us to undo it. Spread the word about this poor excuse for food...
Peter commented on 09-Aug-2011 08:43 AM5 out of 5 stars
It isnt 100% beef that they use for their burgers. I was informed by a guy who use to be a truck driver for them, that 100% USDA Beef was the name of the company where they got the "meat" from. Its a play on words. So sad, and pathetic...

Maybe they should put similar warnings onto MacDonalds packets as they do with cigarettes?

did anyone check the claims of this post? I did, and Dimethylpolysiloxane is an ingredient in the Canola cooking oil, NOT the nuggets!! anyone ready to believe a post without checking into it is naive. I'm not a fan of McDonald's, just annoyed at the ignorance
of some people. Matter of fact I haven't eaten at a fast food restaurant in over 2 years. All fast food is bad, get it out of your life and eat better. Healthy eating tastes way better than any prepared food in a fast food restaurant in my humble opinion.
Anonymous commented on 02-Feb-2012 03:34 AM5 out of 5 stars
i looked on the Mickey D's web site and the fries also have all the Dimethylpolysiloxane and TBHQ
Aaron commented on 14-Feb-2012 12:18 AM5 out of 5 stars
IN response to the BK Strawberry Milkshake comment...our new milkshakes DO in fact have strawberries in them, along with our ice cream sundaes. Not condoning anything BK puts in their food, but it does at least have some sort of actual fruit in it. When
it comes to fast food, the food is obivously no good for you...nothing it is made of can be quite as healthy as food made from home and grown in our own back yard. Take the initiative to make dinner, save a few years (and pounds).
